Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02cm) in width overall consisting of an arch divided red, yellow and blue, rising from a curved silver scroll inscribed "SPIRIT AND CONCERN" in maroon letters and inclosing within the arch a maroon cross.

Symbolism
Maroon and white (silver), the colors of the motto scroll and cross, are the colors associated with the Dental Corps. The cross is a symbol of care and healing. The rainbow arch, a traditional symbol of Hawaii, refers to the unit's location.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 21 May 1981.  It was cancelled effective 30 September 2016, when the unit was discontinued.
